Early Bird Winter Learn to Ride Classes… Beat the Spring Rush!

Want to get your motorcycle license and be ready to ride this spring.  Sign up now for our Early Bird Classes!

 Here’s how it works:

  1. We send you a link to complete the first part of your classroom training at home via our online classroom.
  2. Once you complete the online training, you must email the certificate to ridertraining@appalachianhd.com, and we will place you on our ‘ON CALL’ list for the first available two day weekend on range training to held here at the dealership when weather permits.  We will begin calling students the week of the class to fill seats.
  3. Classes will be held on Saturdays from 9am to 5pm and then again on Sundays from 11am to 3pm.
  4. Classes will only be held in a good weather window – above 40 degrees
  5. Seats are extremely limited for this free training and licensing class.  If you are not available to take a course in February, you will be asked to sign up for the next available course when the Spring training begins (March 2021).

What To Expect

When you take a New Rider Course at Appalachian Harley-Davidson® you’ll:

  • Learn to ride on a genuine Harley-Davidson® motorcycle.
  • Get in-class and on-range instruction from Instructors Certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation® (MSF).
  • Learn basic skills like clutch & throttle control, shifting, turning and braking and advanced skills such as cornering and hazard avoidance.
  • Earn a Completion Certificate that will allow you to get the Class M license added to your current license.

Classes include 3 parts:

  • Online eCourse.  This is a 3-hour pre-course assignment that must be complete before class.  We will send you instructions on this once you are signed up for your class.
  • Classroom Time.  This is a 3 hour evening class to complete interactive learning activities in our pavilion.
  • Riding Exercises.  10 hours of riding experience broken down into two days on our closed course, right here at Appalachian Harley-Davidson®.

Currently, most courses are being held Thursday (classroom), and then Saturday and Sunday (riding exercises).  We will also be planning weekday classes in the near future.

Having the best experience in class requires appropriate motorcycle gear. Be sure to have all of all of this gear prior to coming to your first 'Range' class.

  • DOT approved full face or 3/4 helmet
  • Long-sleeve shirt or jacket
  • Long pants (heavy denim or riding pants recommended)

Get comfortable on a motorcycle before you even walk into your first class. Make the most of your class by getting in the saddle at trying a Jumpstart™ demo at Appalachian Harley-Davidson®.

You’ll mount the motorcycle, set your boots on the foot pegs and fire up the engine under the watchful eye of our trained personnel. And then, sitting comfortably on the motorcycle, you’ll give the throttle a twist and continue to shift through the gears – all while safely and securely attached to the Jumpstart™ platform.
