Join Appalachian Harley-Davidson® and Marc Axelberg for the South East BDR Film Screening on March 15 at 1pm.
Backcountry Discovery Routes® (BDR®) is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that creates comprehensive, self-guided, off-highway experiences for adventure and dual-sport motorcyclists. Our current network includes 20 unique routes covering nearly 20,000 miles of adventure.
BDR offers free, turn-key tools and resources for each route:
• GPS navigation tracks
• Printed weatherproof map (for purchase)
• Resource-rich website
• Route Expedition Documentary and national film tour
• YouTube videos
• Route-specific social media group page
The organization’s work also includes promoting rider education, safety and stewardship in the backcountry. Additionally, BDR delivers a substantial boost to the economies of rural communities along our routes by driving riders into small towns for food, fuel and lodging.
The SEBDR, BDR’s 14th cross-state route, is an epic 1,300-mile journey through the diverse and stunning landscapes of the South East. Starting at the Gulf of Mexico in Florida, the route travels across the Florida panhandle and winds its way through the Appalachian Mountains in Alabama, North Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina, before concluding in Damascus, Virginia, where it connects to the Mid-Atlantic BDR. Riders will experience a stunning range of climates and topographies, from dense forest roads and scenic overlooks to picturesque lakes, roaring rivers, and optional challenging sections. Twisty paved roads add to the fun, while the unique charm of southern culture and cuisine provides a memorable backdrop for the journey. The route can be enjoyed for most of the year from early spring to late fall, somewhat unique among the BDR collection.
